Don E. Lerchbacker, 73, of Amherst, died Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Mercy New Life Hospice after a lengthy illness.

He was born February 20, 1944 in Lorain and had been an Amherst resident for the past 27years moving from Lorain.

Don was a veteran of the US Army serving in Korea.

Don worked as a pipe fitter in the maintenance department for Ford Motor Co., Avon Lake for 33 years, retiring in 2006.

He was a life member of Amvets Post #22 and the American Legion Post #397. He was also a member of the VFW Post #7576, Vermilion Archival Society, UAW #2000, and the Vermilion Veterans Council where he had served as the treasurer. He enjoyed motorcycles and yard work.

He is survived by his daughter, Michelle (Scott) Britvec of Lorain; granddaughters, Jessica, Anna, and Kati; brother, Dennis Lerchbacker of Vermilion; and his sister, Darlene Hohla of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Barbara (nee Cvetovack) Lerchbacker.

Private services will be held.
