Maurice "Maury" Bowen, 86, of Upper Sandusky, died Friday, July 7, 2017 at Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky after a lengthy illness.

Maurice was born December 19, 1930 in Upper Sandusky where he resided for the past 2 years moving from Vermilion where he lived for over 40 years.

He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Force.

Maurice had owned and operated Oberlin Mill Lumber Yard and had also owned a trucking company.

He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Upper Sandusky. He was also a member of the Teamsters, AMVETS Post #22; VFW Post # 7576, Vermilion American Legion Post # 397, Warpole Lodge #176 F&AM, and the Experimental Aircraft Association, Huron. He loved airplanes, antique cars and tractors, and helping his wife plant and care for flowers.

He is survived by his sisters, Elma Spitler and Margaret "Margie" Bower both of Upper Sandusky.

He was preceded in death by his wife of Patricia (nee Reinshell) Bowen, infant daughter, Patrice, parents, Mark Carson and Bessie Mae (nee Clinger) Bowen; sisters, Edna R. Spitler, Ester J. Kear, and Jean Zeis; and his brother, Paul F. Bowen.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 11:00 am until the time of a Veteran's Service conducted by the Vermilion Veterans Council at 1:00 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion, Ohio. A memorial service will immediately follow the Veterans Honors with pastor Rich Leseganich officiating. Inurnment will take place at Brownhelm Cemetery, Vermilion at a later date.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association Northwest Ohio, 4331 Keystone Dr, Ste D, Maumee, OH 43537 or the donor's choice.
