Clois E. Riggs (nee Richardson), 81, of Vermilion, died Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Stein Hospice after a lengthy illness.

She was born February 13, 1936 in Russellville, AL and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 63 years.

Clois worked for South Shore Packing, Vermilion and had also worked as an in home care giver for various families.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Birmingham and enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, feeding the birds, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Paul Riggs, son, Rick (Pat) Riggs of Vermilion; daughters, Sheila Jackson of Huron and Kimberly (Rich) Labis of Vermilion; granddaughter that she raised as her daughter, Paula (Jesse) Burkhammer of Vermilion; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; her sister, Laura Barattini of LA; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Webb and Millie (nee Landers) Richardson; her daughter, Linda Esplandiu in 2002; brothers, Curtis, Huston, Charlie, David, Paul, Junior, and Ray Richardson; and her sisters, Lucille Kimbrough and May Lindsey.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017 from 4-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Funeral services will be Friday, Sept. 29, 2017 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. The Reverend Jayson Samons will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
